“Horizon Hospice to train Clinicians from India to establish hospice services in conjunction with the Binaytara Foundation.”

The Binaytara Foundation (BTF) has partnered with Horizon Home Health and Hospice to support development of hospice centers in resource poor communities. BTF has been working with the government of Madhya Pradesh in India to establish a palliative and home hospice program at Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. This will be the first home hospice program in the state with population over 70 million. The program will provide care to the patients with terminal illnesses by allowing them to spend the last few months of their lives among their loved ones, free of pain and comfort.

The Horizon Home Health and Hospice team led by Dr. Derrel Walker(left in photo) will provide training to physicians and nurses from Madhya Pradesh. A team of one physician and 4 nurses are expected to start training in April, 2017. Dr. Walker said, “"I couldn't be more excited about this relationship with Dr. Shah and the Binatara Foundation. Dr. Shah's work has already made a huge impact on underserved populations and I look forward to working with him to touch the lives of millions more in India and other countries who will benefit from hospice care." Dr. Binay Shah, (right in photo) a cancer physician and BTF President said, “The majority of cancer patients in low income countries like India are diagnosed at late stages. Hospice program in Madhya Pradesh will help patients live their last few weeks/months of life with dignity. Partnership with Horizon Hospice will help further our mission of serving more patients globally.”

BTF has successfully established a home hospice program in Kathmandu Nepal. More than 70 patients have already received hospice services through that home hospice program since January 2016.  Tricia Reynolds, NP-C from Horizon Home Health and Hospice travelled to Nepal and trained the Binaytara home hospice team in Nepal.

The Binaytara Foundation is committed to providing ongoing cancer research and education through conferences and summits around the United States. For more information, refer to their webpage at:https://binayfoundation.org/
